Both sides of the cover, as well as the rubber band, are produced in an elegant black colour, with only the words “MOLESKINE” embossed at the back of the notebook. This simple design creates an understated and stylish mood that will always be conductive to the creative process.
The notebook was born to live in your pocket! It is hard, stout, and has round-edged corners. It seems like a small detail, but thanks to these round edges, it will always be very smooth to put your notebook in your pocket or pick it back up. Also, the elastic rubber band will always protect your notes and avoid the pages to get wrinkled. If you accidentally drop your Moleskine on the floor, the pages will not detach from the notebook.
The pocket at the back is made of high quality cardboard and oilcloth for holding tickets, notes and clippings. It is reinforced at cross-areas, making it strong and durable. The pocket opens at approximately 20° which makes it easy for putting in and getting out what you need. Also, as the opening of the pocket is facing inwards, there are no worries that any loose paper will fall out from your notebook.
The 200 years traditional Moleskine design has been preserved in the notebooks. The classic mauve bookmark and the buttermilk colour of the acid-free paper make writing in a Moleskine an eye-pleasing experience. Also, each Moleskine is bound like a book using the thread-binding method. This makes the notebook very strong and allows you to open the notebook totally flat (which can be very useful if you need to scan one of your creations).
In order to avoid damage (including water damage) to the notebook, the cover is hard and made from oilcloth, a water resistant material. Also, it is easy to write on a Moleskine – even outdoors - as the hard cover can be used as a “portable desk”. Although the notebook may look quite heavy, it is unexpectedly lightweight and you can use it with flexibility and carry it everywhere. After 200 years of practical experience, it is proven that the durability of Moleskine is one of the reasons why it is still the beloved notebook of artists around the world.
